On November 8, 2003, it all began at our favorite record store, Recycled Sounds, with the band The James Dean Trio. It was not only the album release party for our first release but a successful and packed-out celebration of music in Kansas City.

The Record Machine, located in Kansas City, MO, is a pioneering independent record label and events company that has been making waves in the music industry for over 20 years. Initially focused on promoting local talent, the label quickly expanded its reach and began releasing music from artists across the United States. In addition to releasing exceptional music, The Record Machine also organizes events in its backyard of Kansas City.

Our mission is to collaborate with talented and dedicated musicians who possess a unique flair of their own. With an extensive catalog of releases spanning various genres, The Record Machine prides itself on curating an eclectic mix of music that defies categorization. Each release carries a unifying and uplifting quality that resonates with listeners.

The goal of The Record Machine goes beyond simply releasing music; we strive to cultivate and support emerging artists by connecting them with a broader audience. Tim Finn, formerly of The Kansas City Star, once praised our efforts, noting that the label consistently delivers high-quality music deserving national recognition.

The Record Machine is the collective sum of individuals and artists. We value our artists for their life experiences, knowledge, self-expression, and talent. Our artists represent a significant part of our culture, reputation, and achievements. We know that we would be nothing without them. We embrace and encourage them in their differences in race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, religion, sexual orientation, and other characteristics that make our community unique.
