Mike Katz is a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist who makes stripped-down lo-fi pop and garage rock. The son of a classical guitarist, Katz is a lifelong musician who started in the classical and jazz realms but quickly found his love for the hiss and warble of cassette tapes. After years of making music for commercials and film, Katz released his debut full-length album, 1-800-I'm-So-Lonely, made on a 4-track cassette recorder and filled with memorable riffs. His follow-up EP, Takes A Real Woman, is a step forward in both songwriting and sound but still satisfies the craving for catchy hooks and warm, crunchy DIY recordings.
