Listen to Cabo, the new single from our latest signing from New Zealand, Bluey Green.

Bluey Green is the New Zealand-based project of songwriter/producer Mitch Horton. His latest single, Cabo, is his first release with The Record Machine. Cabo, is inspired by travel, the desire to escape to a new location, and the longing for meaning. You can feel the breeze in the easy-going indie pop that takes you to the exotic locals Horton sings about.

“We recorded, Cabo, here in Mount Maunganui, NZ, in my guitarist’s studio, I flew Mark Perkins (Aka MERK) up from Christchurch to produce, and we took a much more collaborative approach to make it compared to my previous recordings. I think it has aspects of the dreamy indie pop sound that seems to be present in most of my music, but I think there is a bit more maturity in this track from previous recordings, We worked on the guitar sounds a lot, tried to dial in kindof a Paul Simon Graceland kinda vibe with them, keeping it simple but intentional.

Cabo was one of the very rare songs, well, for me anyway, that seemingly just dropped out of the sky., Lyrically, the song is probably the deepest I have dived, trying to express the search for meaning, longing for direction, and a sense of purpose in life. But I like that it doesn't relate to anything, so I hope listeners will be able to draw their own ideas and meaning from it.” - Mitch Horton, Bluey Green
