Static Phantoms release latest single Assassins

“Assassins” could be seen as just another word for “Artists”. What do Artists assassinate? In the song “Assassins”, the artists known as Static Phantoms are suggesting eliminating the bodies of Power, Corruption, and Lies from our current times.

It’s not a coincidence that those themes are influential in Static Phantoms’ work; harkening back to the political and social statements (as well as the sonic palette) that filled similar electronic music of the past in bands like Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, OMD, and New Order, “Assassins” is another anthem for the masses to renounce the maladies plaguing our society, and to stand strong in the face of those who’d keep their boots on our necks.

A bold statement in an age of post-irony, and it’s much needed. The unrelenting beat and angular guitar riffs matched with the urgent synths and overdriven vocals mean business....and yet there’s light guiding that movement. The chorus’ chant is looking for that light that’s guiding each of us: “I see in your eyes, the moon shines bright...”. Hope through the darkness, our own reflection of a light that’s guiding our way.
