Our hometown boys Various Blonde are back with new EP "3s 1"

“Like the best post-punk, “Darkest Night” is haunting, fun, and will leave you shook..” - Afropunk.

Kansas City, Missouri funkdafied, dark pop, electro-rock outfit Various Blonde cultivates and refines their sound through continued evolution and genre-bending experimentation. Various Blonde’s diverse sound has allowed them to bring their emotional, high energy live performance to an eclectic audience, opening for Spoon, Grizzly Bear, Of Montreal, De Lux, Broncho, Triathalon, Nick Waterhouse, and The Buttertones.

Various Blonde’s upcoming EP will be released on The Record Machine in two parts, “3s 1” and “3s 2”.  The two 3-track EP’s include songs written by Various Blonde and produced by L.A. bassist Brandon Eugene Owens (Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, and Robert Glasper). Josh Allen and B.E.O. formed a relationship in 2013 when B.E.O played bass on two tracks of “Summer High,” recording sessions which were produced by his late brother Isaiah “Ikey” Owens (keyboardist for Jack White and The Mars Volta). After reconnecting at a memorial concert honoring Ikey’s life and body of work, the two felt compelled to work on a project together again. Bringing B.E.O onboard for “3s 1” and “3s 2,” after groundwork laid by co-contributors singer/guitarist Josh Allen and drummer Mark Lomas, ensured VB would reach their artistic vision for these songs.

Various Blonde plans to take their dynamic, energy-rich live show on the road throughout 2020 to support “3s 1” and “3s 2”.  Their set showcases raw, authentic pop that will engage and amaze you from start to finish.
